Marshall senior Dominique Giles (right) scored 21 points Feb. 9 as the Minutemen thumped the Roughriders 75-35 at Roosevelt High School in North Portland.

Timothy Lott and Mitch Beckwith added 20 points each for the sixth-ranked Minutemen. For Roosevelt, Oscar Bethancourt scored a team-high 13 points in the loss.

With the win, Marshall improved their record to 14-5 (6-2 in the PIL 5A). They have four league games remaining, including two against top-ranked Jefferson.

Nevertheless, Marshall appears to be headed for the post-season for the first time since 1984. Whether they finish second or third in the PIL 5A will probably come down to their final game, Feb. 25 against Cleveland. The two teams have each beaten the other once this season.

After losing to Marshall, Roosevelt dropped to 5-13 (2-5 in the PIL 5A).
