Every year, the Reser’s Tournament of Champions brings the best high school wrestling teams in Oregon together for a two-day meet in Hillsboro. Unlike the state tournaments, the TOC does not classify teams based on school size. The bigger schools, then, have an advantage when it comes to the team title. But wrestlers from the smaller schools can—and often do—win the individual trophies.
The invitational event is often described as the toughest meet in the state. Every year the organizers do a good job identifying the best wrestlers and teams in the state. There aren’t many winners at the TOC who don’t add a state title at the end of the season. But the converse is not true: many state champions lose at the TOC.
With the 2010 Tournament coming up January 29 and 30, we thought it would be fun to look back at some of our pictures from last year’s event.
