When it comes to boys basketball, Oregon City and Lake Oswego have been the top two teams in the Three Rivers league practically forever in high school terms—about 10 years—and this season is no different. In the latest poll, the two teams were ranked fourth and seventh in the state, respectively.

On January 19 the Lakers hosted the first of this year’s home-and-home series with their arch rivals.

This time, at least, the Lakers were gracious hosts, spotting Oregon City a 7-1 lead early in the first quarter and never seriously threatening the Pioneers after that.

Senior Brycen Driver led the charge for the Pioneers with 18 points, and team mate Tyler Ferguson added another 9. Lake Oswego’s 6-9 center Billy Reader scored 12 for the Lakers.

With the win, Oregon City improved their record to 10-5 (2-1 in league play). Lake Oswego dropped to 10-6 (3-1).

Brycen Driver from OC has completley dominated LO during the 2009-2010 season. He scored 18 points to lead OC’s during it’s win at LO (including a very decisive dunk), then during the next contest at home (for the league championship), Driver scored a game high 30 points, sinking 17-20 free-throws to lead the Pioneers to a 30 point romp over the out-manned, out-skilled Lakers. Some players just seam to play better against certain teams……Driver appearantly enjoys playing against the LO Lakers!
