Pro- and con- cap-and-trade rallies in Portland

Proponents and opponents of cap-and-trade legislation demonstrate outside Portland's Keller Auditorium Nov. 18 ahead of Al Gore's speech at the venue. Approximately 200 opponents attended a rally organized by Americans for Prosperity. A few dozen counter-protesters demonstrated at the same time. Vandals had spraypainted anti-cap-and-trade slogans on the auditorium the night before. It was cleaned up before noon.

About 200 opponents of cap-and-trade legislation rallied outside Portland’s Keller Auditorium Nov. 18 ahead of Al Gore’s speech at the venue, and several dozen supporters of Al Gore’s message staged a counter-protest.

The anti-Gore demonstration, organized by Americans for Prosperity, included an appearance by that group’s president, Tim Phillips.

Vandals had spray painted anti-cap-and-trade slogans on the auditorium the night before Gore’s speech. The graffiti was cleaned up beore noon.
